Please excuse
me if this is in the wrong forum, I'm new here.
In
a relatively short amount of time my character has accumulated an
excessive amount of money and this feels unbalancing. Is there a mod
that allows the player to donate money to a worthy cause? Like the
Temple or Imperial Cult so it can be used to help the
poor?
Thanks in Advance

Seems
reasonable but no I have not heard of one. But what about the evil
characters? If there was a mod like this there would need to be an
option to extort money from the Temple or Imperial Cult.

"Alright
Synnolian Tunifus, pay up or the world will hear of your
misappropriation of muck sponge!"
Lol....my character isn't
evil but that idea sounds very interesting
indeed.
scifiguy52- Thank you I shall look into the three
mods you suggested. Although I was hoping to find something that
would allow me to remain a freelancer, rather than be tied down to a
business of some kind at this time. Perhaps one of those will come
in handy later on when my character gets ready to settle down (she
currently has commitment issues).
Thank you both for the
help.

well you can
donate artifacts, and in the way i play the game, in order to
surround myself in the game, i donate a loaf of bread and 100
dollars every time i sleep, except in my house, then id have a
million gold and 4000 breadsticks everywhere lol

Would it be
possible to make a mod that raises your reputation if you donate
money? Say 1 pt for every 10k?

It's possible. I think that the amount
of money shouldn't be the only criteria for increasing reputation. I
think that the reputation increase should depend on how many times
and how often you have donated money. This way you could get
reputation increases on lower levels if you donate small sums often
and on higher levels you'll have to donate larger sums (well, they
expect you to get more richer while you adventure) as often to get
the same increase. I think that the reputation increases should
follow a logarithmic curve (or is it hyperbolic curve...?) since at
some point everybody already knows about you and after that it
should be very hard to gain any reputation increases anymore.

Thats a better
idea, you could run it off the player's level and reputation so they
higher they are the harder it is until it becomes impossible.

This is an
excellent idea. Generosity, being a benefactor to a religion would
be a superb way to introduce a money sink into the game. A small
mod, easily doable. And with reputation benefits. Reputation is one
of the factors that determines what merchants charge the PC, higher
reps get lower prices on goods they buy and better maximum prices on
goods they sell. Ironic in a way, the more you give away the easier
it would become to become richer.

Interesting
idea tying the donation of money to the players reputation points.
Money is so easy to come by in this game I would hope you would have
to make a sizable donation (or frequent donations) before you could
enjoy a reputation increase.
I'm totally lost when it comes
to the construction set so would someone enlighten me as to how this
would be implemented? Would you make donations to a new NPC or maybe
a shrine? When I first started thinking about this was after meeting
Mehra Helas outside the Temple in Mournhold. She asks you if you'd
like to give 5 gold to the Temple in exchange for a blessing...I
just thought it would be nice if I could give much more anytime I
liked.
If this would be fairly easy to do would someone be so
kind as to create this mod in their spare time?

On my list of
things to do is a Better Cult mod, which will add perks to rising in
the ranks of the Imperial Cult. One thing I'd already planned was a
script on the donation bowl in the Ebonheart building. Every time
you leave the building, you should make a donation in the bowl. An
added script will compare your donation to your total gold and
modify things from there. So if you have 80,000 gold and donate 500
nobody's going to thank you, but if you have 80 and donate 70 you'll
be a star. Of course, you could just drop some gold at your feet and
then donate but hell, if you want to exploit Morrowind there's
enough ways already. The person that does that won't want an
roleplaying-style mod anyway.

It could be
done through new NPC's and new dialogue. Or through existing NPC's
with added dialogue. If one wanted to also add the tithing concept,
that would take some scripting. In the TESCS help forum there
are links to Ghan-Buri-Ghan's most excellent scripting manual now in
its 8th edition and covering a lot more than just scripting, and to
tutorials on how to create dialogues and quests and other
interesting things.

Would your donation bowl only
be accessible by members of the Imperial Cult? Or could anyone use
it?

I spent some time looking over
the scripting manual, it's quite well written and provides great
detail. Thank you for the reference. I'm still terrified of the
construction set unfortunately, but after reading thru that guide I
was at least able to understand some basics of what I was looking
at.

I had a
character who liked to give donations to the Temple and Imperial
Cult from time to time and what she would do is just leave the piles
of gold on and in front of the various altars. (I got the idea from
seeing the piles of coins in the bowls on the Imperial Cult altars.)
Also, she would leave items there as well, so that after a while,
the area really did look very much like some sort of
shrine.
Another thing you could do until and if an actual
donation mod is made is you could pay more gold (lots more) for
various items when purchasing from the Temple or Imperial Cult. You
could pay for a potion of Cure Blight Disease, but instead of giving
the normal 20 gold (or whatever it is), give 5000 gold. They will be
more than happy to take your money in this way.
